ALMA Science Archive Query

Query Help

The tooltips that appear when you hover over the search boxes will give examples of searches, and show the unit in which to enter numerical quantities. The name resolver (SESAME) will resolve names of non-solar system objects using the SIMBAD, NED, and Vizier databases.

By default, the results of a search will be a list of publically available, raw observations of science targets. To see a project-level view, and/or prorietary data, choose the appropriate options in the lower-right box. In order to see also data from calibrator observations, select the appropriate entries from the "Scan Intent" field.

Below are a list of operators and wildcards that may be used in the search fields (apart from the name resolver field, which accepts no operators).

Source name (Resolver)
Case-insensitive search for source name, to be resolved with Sesame.
Wildcard matching is disabled.

Usage.

Use Sesame (via. NED, Simbad and VizieR) to parse names commonly found throughout literature. A green tick indicates a successful search, otherwise, a red cross is returned.

Options
View:
Results View
Select if the results should be displayed per observation or per project.

Description
Per default the search results are displayed so that one row of the results table corresponds to one observation in the raw data. If you are only interested in a list of projects that match the search criteria, select here the project option.
Data type
Per default only publicly available data is shown. If you also want to see proprietary data, uncheck this checkbox.

Description
ALMA data is protected by a proprietary period of usually 12 months. Per default only those data that have gone out of their proprietary period are shown in the Results Table. If you are a PI and are looking for your own data, if the PI has delegated the access of their data to you, if you want to see which data has been observed or if you want to see which data is becoming public when, please uncheck this checkbox.
Observation type
Per default only science sources are shown. If you also want to see the calibration sources, uncheck this checkbox.

Description
Scan intent list for the observed field.

Results Help

Query results appear on this page. If the "raw" view was selected, there is one entry per observation of each source. This means that for a given project several rows are typically displayed for the same source, as are individual mosaic pointings. The "project" view will contain one row per project data delivery.

Columns in the results table may be sorted by clicking on the column header cell and filtered by entering a filter value in the box below each column heading. The "More columns" link at the top-right of the results table allows the display of further metadata columns. Select the rows you are interested in and click the "Submit download request" button. This will identify the data deliveries that contain the selected data and offer them for download through the ALMA Request Handler.

Below are a list of operators that may be used in the filter boxes.
